The Keys To a Happier and Healthier Smile

Posted on 1/24/2022 by Pacific Oral and Facial Surgery Center
The Keys To a Happier and Healthier SmileA healthy smile is one that is contagious, boosts your self-confidence, and makes you look happy and friendly. However, it does not come for free, as it is also the result of proper oral hygiene and dental care. Here, we have brought you some important tips to consider if you want to get or maintain a happier and healthier smile.

Brush Your Teeth and Tongue

We all know we should brush our teeth to keep them clean and safe from cavities, but few people know that brushing their tongues is just as important. Brushing your tongue assists in fighting bacteria and preventing you from having bad breath. As such, you should remember to brush both your teeth and tongue so you can have a brighter smile and healthier smile.

Floss and Fluoride

Flossing remains as the number one tool for fighting plaque and bacteria in your mouth. It allows us to remove particles hidden underneath our teeth that our toothbrushes cannot reach. Fluoride, on the other hand, helps in hardening your tooth enamel, also known as the outer layer of teeth. Flossing once a day and brushing your teeth with flouride toothpastes will ensure you stay away from common dental problems.

Avoid Drinking Sugary Drinks

Sugary drinks have a harmful impact on your teeth. They allow the formation of bacteria that severely weaken them as time passes. Teeth with cavities are not only dangerous for the looks of your smile, but for your overall dental health as well. If you can, we recommend opting for other drinks like water and other sugar-free beverages.

Do Not Ignore Dental Pain

You should seek immediate medical emergency treatment when you feel a nagging pain in your teeth. Ignoring the pain makes the treatment process and recovery period longer. You should also ensure you go for a dental check-up once at least twice a year to check the overall state of your mouth.

A healthy and clean mouth makes it irresistible for you to smile. A healthy mouth is a happy mouth. Please give us a call today if you have any inquiries, or to learn ways of having a healthier smile.
