Dentures can also be an excellent alternative if you have missing teeth on the upper or lower jaws. These can be caused by various factors such as being involved in an accident or due to an underlying medical condition. What is the Difference Between a Regular Denture and an Overdenture?

The main difference is usually they get attached to the gums. Dentures are fitted on the gums using natural suction, adhesives, or a combination of the two. With overdentures, they are held in place by screwing or clipping them onto dental implants that were previously placed in the jawbone. Overdentures resemble regular dentures in looks, feel, and functionality.

Overdentures Provide a Predictable Treatment Option

Regular dentures are not a preferred option for many patients due to some shortcomings. For instance, they may not properly fit, and can regularly fall off, even on public occasions such as at dinner. Also, the fact that you will have to remove them every night before going to bed, seems to be disliked by a majority of patients. For that, overdentures become more predictable since they are a more permanent alternative.
